Present: Library Director Tracy Wright, Robert Cartolano (President), Rosetta McArdle, Astra Tudisco, Leslye Davidson, Jim Martin, and Darlene Reda. Town Councilwoman Theresa Nicholson also attended the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. The minutes from the July 12, 2023 meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved.
President Cartolano and Trustee Davidson attended the recent WLS Trustee Institute. Question: do we know how we would, as a library, respond to various incidents? EPL should have a prepared script talking about the purpose of the library, the Board, etc., and develop a communication/response plan for the top ten or so scenarios that might play out.
Director Wright heard from Shelley Mayer that the grants for the two bathrooms have been approved. The cement pouring started today! Two architect quotes were received—one from Peter Gisolfi and one from Lothrup. Director Wright spoke with Creative Library Concepts about redesigning the layout of the library. LULA is still on the table.
EPL will host an Open House on Saturday, September 9 featuring face painting, a children’s entertainer and more. EPL is looking to add a crafting database just for our patrons.
2024 budget discussion: automated system services (WLS) costs decreased; technology line has been added; building maintenance supplies have increased $14,000 (the library has never asked for an increase in this line). EPL is asking for a total increase of $63,750.
See above.
The book lift discussion continues: people v. book only?
A natural spring was discovered around the building. Suggestion was made to hold a “What if?” meeting to formalize ideas for facility projects. Discussion was held regarding code of conduct/posting of policies. It was noted that Bronxville library has posted policies that are visible as soon as patrons walk in the door.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:24 pm. Next meeting is September 13, 2023.
Respectfully submitted,
Darlene E. Reda
