Present: Library Director Tracy Wright, Robert Cartolano (President), Rosetta McArdle, Astra Tudisco, James Martin, Leslye Davidson and Darlene Reda. Town Councilman Theresa Nicholson also attended.
The meeting was called to order at 6:43 p.m.
The minutes from the November 16, 2022 meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved.
Columbia University announced its new president—the first woman to lead the university. President Cartolano has been elected to the Westchester Library board, representing the towns of Eastchester, Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Pelham.
Water remediation project is scheduled to start in mid-February. Director Wright is worried about noise and may tailor services during construction period. Town comptroller Dawn Donovan asked if EPL wants to request capital expense funds for 2023—however, three projects are still floating. EPL has been promised $80,000 to fund bathroom renovations. Now that the long range plan is underway, we may want to start talking to Dawn about it.
An exhibit is now being shown in the Art room; other artists, including Eastchester High School students, are interested in showing their works. Director Wright has seen an increased demand to use the upstairs meeting room for interviews and may consider charging for usage. A consistent policy is needed.
WLS report for 2021 showed that EPL circulation had gone up 21%. Book bundles are a huge success –special kudos to Teresa and Jon.
Long Range Planning Committee: The Strategic Plan draft has been received. Trustee Martin would like to have the committee go through it. The Board would like more specificity.
Director Wright said an architectural firm through WLS offered to come in and give a free consult.
None.
Trustee Davidson informed the Board that the History Bee, offered through EPL, is coming up soon. Trustee Davidson is asking for help in getting the word out.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:08 pm. Next meeting is on February 15, 2023
Respectfully submitted,
