EPL Board of Trustees TopNav: October 16, 2024 Minutes

Minutes from October 16, 2024 Meeting

Meeting of the Board of Trustees
Eastchester Public Library
October 16, 2024

Present: Robert Cartolano (President), Library Director Tracy Wright, Leslye Davidson, Astra Tudisco, Patrick Pilla, Rosetta McArdle, Lisa Sclavo, and Darlene Reda. The meeting was also attended by Councilman Anthony Giacobbe. The meeting convened at 6:36 pm.

The minutes from the September 25, 2024 meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved.

President's Report

President Cartolano has been attending WLS budget meetings. WLS costs have increased and will be spread over three years. Funds can be used for outreach and cataloguing, but not IT. Leadership at WLS is looking at a provision to help with IT costs. Use of electronic resources continues to grow; this includes Overdrive. Hoopla Digital is also growing. We expect support from the County to continue.

Director’s Report

Director Wright has not heard anything yet with respect to the budget.

Building update: Water fountains are done. Elevator should be up and running soon (no pun intended). Bathroom work is noisy; it has been difficult to have this work going on while library is open. Director Wright put extra money in the budget for maintenance.

Action Item: Motion was made and unanimously approved to hire Romar Home Improvements for the painting of the library exterior and Children’s and Adult libraries on the main floor for $12,300.

Christmas Eve and New Years Eve hours will be 9am-1pm.

EPL Fundraiser will be held on Friday evening at 7:30 pm.

Committee Reports

Building Committee: See above regarding ongoing projects.

Old Business

None.

New Business

None.

Internet Archive: cyber attack temporarily took down entire site. Tuckahoe Library looks beautiful and will be reopening soon after renovations.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:23 pm.

Next meeting is scheduled for November 20, 2024.

Respectfully submitted,
