Present: Library Director Tracy Wright, Robert Cartolano (President), Astra Tudisco, James Martin, Leslye Davidson and Darlene Reda. Town Councilwoman Theresa Nicholson also attended.
The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m.
The minutes from the January 18, 2023 meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved.
Library board members are now required to do two hours of training per year. Director Wright sent links to the board to access trainings.
Director Wright thinks we may need to begin opening two nights a week again; EPL held over 50 programs in January. Tuckahoe and Bronxville both offer two nights; Scarsdale library is open four nights/week. Question is whether we should stay open until 9 pm. Budgetary impact would be minimal.
Vince was at EPL earlier; he is having a hard time contacting the window company. There is still a long punch list to be completed. Building Department was not happy with some items Lothrup submitted. Bid package for the elevator should be ready next week. The Rashkoff and Children’s Rooms need to be refreshed. We still do not have a start date for the water remediation project, which had been scheduled to start mid-February.
PLDA, along with WLS, is leading the discussion on the extent to which libraries can be helpful with the digital navigation issue.
The Fox funds have been released to Friends of the Library. Norma Warner, past president and long -time member of the Friends, recently passed away. The Board acknowledged her contributions to the EPL and extended their condolences to the Warner family.
None.
Trustee Martin inquired about the book lift. Director Wright said it has been put on the back burner for now due to three outstanding projects.
Trustee Martin proposed purchasing a plaque in honor of Norma; the Friends would like to purchase a bench. The Social Emotional Learning Booklist pamphlet has been distributed to schools to advertise the collection.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm. Next meeting is on March 22, 2023.
Respectfully submitted,
Darlene E. Reda
